Alabama has many beautiful rivers and lakes and the US Army Corp of Engineers has several parks and campgrounds that allow you the perfect opportunity to enjoy them. One of these is Chilatchee Creek which is a small campground that is remotely located in the northern part of Wilcox County on Chilatchee Creek. The park is a featured birding site on the Alabama Birding Trails. It has an array of campsites, picnic shelters, a boat ramp, courtesy docks, and a playground. Some of the campsites and docks have spectacular views of the lake. If you are looking for a secluded place to relax and enjoy the outdoors, this just might be the perfect place for you. Be sure to bring you camera because the scenery on the lake is beautiful. You may also get the opportunity to take a picture of one of the alligators.
Directions: From Alberta, AL on State Highway 5, turn onto Wilcox County Road 29 and travel southeast for 9 miles. Make a left on Chilatchee Creek Road and continue for 3 miles to the campground. (Note: The first mile of the entrance road to the campground is not paved). GPS coordinates of the campground entrance are 32.141081, -87.273759.
